A Net: Take us Back to Pre Searing Ascalon
From reading the articles about GW2 one of the things I have learned is that the foucus the new Game of GW2 is going to give the team that is going to be assigned to GW 1 to focus on improving it, and doing more events and stuff like that since they wont have to work on "the next chapter", so I was thinking....
Pre Searing Ascalon from Prophecies is probably the most beautiful region with some of the most spectacular environments in all of GW and it would be great if they could make this area revisitable, add some quests there, and possibly extend holiday events to the area. Wintersday and the Halloween Event would be great.

It'd be cool, but...I dunno. It wouldn't make sense to go back in time that far, even with the continuity goofs GW already has.

Do you mean pre-searing Ascalon or actual Old Ascalon? There is a difference. You can get to old Ascalon at any time (after pre-searing of course), but you cannot get to pre-searing Ascalon after you leave.
In response to your post, I am not sure that Arena Net would be so crazy about this idea. Pre-searing was meant to be more of a tutorial area rather than a part of the story (it has few elements of the story). I will admit, it would be nice to revisit it, but I don't think it would happen.

technically speaking, the time gap between pre and post is less than that between Prophecies/Factions and Nightfall...

According to the PC Gamer article, you'll be very surprised at what the Charr homeland looks like...

The Charr didn't blast, pummel, and scorch Ascalon, they STOLE it since they wanted a pretty homeland and gave US their ugly lands.
In other words, Post-Searing Ascalon was the old Charr homeland, the new Charr homeland is what was once Pre-Searing.
Don't ask me how they did it. ANet can make up some loophole or something as to how that's even possible.

Uhh...I dont think so seeing as the Pre-Searing land--->the raggedy burnt ascalon of Tyria today, which u can visit. The "Searing" turned Pre-Searing into the new Ascalon, hence the prefix "Pre" in Pre-Searing.

Lyra's right, if you want to get back to a place that looks like Pre-Searing, the Charr Homeland is supposed to be like it.
And on the subject of the Searing, all of Ascalon, the Human nation and the Charr nation, both, at one point, looked like they did in pre-, but, with the Searing, the Charr burnt our Ascalon to a crisp.

I like the idea of pre-searing Ascalon, but revisiting it with current characters is a little stupid. What I would like is something that will re-attract people to starting characters in the Prophecies campaign. It will be fun if there were pre-searing only events etc.

If you like pre-searing so much, like many of us do, leave a char slot open or make a perma-pre char.

I prefer Anet to release an offline version of GW1 with all the 3 expansions including Presearing instead of making quest available to return to Presearing.

Time-travel back to pre-searing... but... even pre-pre-pre-searing... to see the birth of Gwen... construction of Ascalon... I wanna live there.... like... it doesn't need to have sense... like, you can play Istan and Shing Jae missions with a Tyrian char, the events are being told and stuff... could do the same with far pre-searing... and in the end it would turn out that Rurik is your father or sth... and Gwen is your mother... twisted storyline ^^
But seriously, I really can't immagine the Charr living in such a nice place.... the grass wouldn't be so pretty there, that would step on it and destroy it And come on... they are named the Charr for a reason ^^ if they were to live in Ascalon they would have to be renamed to Hippies or Happy-Green-Pink-Flower-Bears

I just looked at some screenies from GW:EN of the Charr homeland, lush green fields and fall-colored trees makes you feel like you're back in a mix of Regent Valley and Greenhills County.
Just be patient, almost all our wishes are granted in this one

By the way, the story in GW2 will be told hundreds of years after today, which is some time after the searing. Maybe Ascalon will have recovered from the searing until GW2?

Perhaps they could let you go to a region exactly the same as pre-searing after you beat the game and your character starts over at level 1 with just skills you can access in pre searing then you can go back to post searing and be a level 20 with your original items although it wouldnt make sense onless there was a time machine or something idk,..

Who knows what Hard Mode is to bring us? I believe, and don't quote me on this, Gaile said for example there will be Lv. 28 Charr somethingorother to fight if your choose to play in Hard Mode.
So, who is to say that if you accept Hard Mode that things won't visually change for you? We don't know, doubtful as it is, we don't know..
